How much does it cost ?

No membership, no monthly fee or hidden fees and no percentages taken on the sale of used books! Lexya is offered free of charge in continuity with the current student services available to you. It is therefore 100% free for students from partner student associations. Isn't it awesome?

Why Lexya?

It's quite simple, Lexya helps you save money on textbook purchases. Whether you buy your books new, digital or used, our mission is that you keep more money in your pockets. In addition, you can buy all your school books in pajamas, directly from your couch with your little Nespresso latte in your hand!

Why should my student association partner with Lexya?

Lexya is a platform that allows the student association to offer a better service to students as well as to offer adequate technological support, encouraging the academic success of its members. 

The association offers several services to students to improve their experience on campus, and Lexya is one of them.

Lexya is not in my school, but I would really like to have access to it. What should I do?

COOL! It's exactly people like you who make things move forward. We work in partnership with general student associations. It's with them that we need to get in touch so that you have Lexya in your school! You can write to us at support@lexya.co.

P.S. We are commited to pay all your prescribed books to your classes for the next year if you refer us to the right person from your general student association and if Lexya becomes available to all students on your campus!

App Log-In

How do I log-in to Lexya?

To log-in to Lexya, you must use your username and password that you use to log-in to your student portal (username@myuniversity.ca).

* The identifier is often the email address of your institution (eg: myname@university.ca)

** If not, it is your login that you use to sign in to your Student Portal (Moodle, MyPortal, etc.)

Why can't I use my personal email address to log-in to Lexya?

If you could log-in with your personal email address, anyone could have access to the platform. By using your student ID, we make sure that you are indeed a student of the partner association, and that you are a member of the student association that offers you this service for free.

My association is partner with Lexya and I am an active member, but I am not able to log-in. What do I have to do ?

  • Are you sure you have the correct username and password?

Why do I have to be a member of my general student association to access Lexya?

Lexya is a platform that is offered to you free of charge through your general student association. If you want to benefit from the service, you must be a member of the association otherwise it would not be fair for other students.

Security of your data

Why is it important to agree to send my information to Lexya?

The importance of consent to the disclosure of personal information ensures an optimal experience on Lexya.

It is therefore essential that you agree to share your information during your first log-in, because this information ensures that you are a member of your student association. The objective of this step is to maintain a private ecosystem for the students of the partner association.

For what purpose is this data used?

Shared data is only used to better meet your needs and enhance your experience on the platform. Consent for the disclosure of personal information is the essential condition for consultation of services. (See the Privacy Policy for more details.)

What are the terms of use of this information by Lexya?

The information communicated:

  • will be limited to those essential for the purposes of the services;
  • will only be accessible by Lexya;
  • will be limited exclusively to the expected duration
  • will be subject to the protections that apply to their respective institution regarding the confidentiality of personal information.

The information will be processed and used by Lexya in accordance with the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information, CQLR c. A-2.1.

What information is sent to Lexya?

In accordance with the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information, RLRQ c. A-2.1, the Lexya Partner Student Association is authorized to provide Lexya with the following personal information (the "Information"):

  • Id or student email address (required)
  • Surname and first name (optional);
  • Faculty of study (optional);
  • Study program (optional);
  • Telephone number (optional);
  • Personal email address (optional)
  • Unique identification number (optional, where applicable)


Lexya may retain this information for a period not exceeding 5 years after the end of the student's studies.

Why is the student ID or email address a mandatory information?

The mandatory information is communicated by the student association partner to Lexya only at your request and will be used for the sole purpose of authentication when you register to Lexya.

Why are other information considered "optional"?

For the moment, the optional information can be added by the student in the Profile section of the Lexya platform.

Following the acceptance of the sharing of information by the student, Lexya reserves the right to store this information to better meet the needs of the student for future uses.

Student rights in terms of personal informations:

  • All personal information is confidential unless its disclosure is authorized by the person to whom it relates.
  • To be valid, consent must be free and informed.
  • Consent may be withdrawn partially or completely at any time; it is not necessary that this withdrawal be in writing.
  • In general, the law recognizes the right of any person to receive any personal information concerning him or her, as well as the right to request the correction of such information that is inaccurate, incomplete or equivocal.
  • Regarding the exercise of the right of access to information that will be collected in the framework of Lexya, the student will have to be aware of the information he sends to Lexya.

Used Books

What should I say to the person I sell or buy my book? Do you have any suggestions ?

First of all, we suggest you keep the discussions between students quite "formal" since Lexya is clearly not a dating site! When we share you the information of the person you are buying or selling your book with, be smart enough to distinguish Lexya from Tinder. 

On the other hand, if you fall in love at first sight and a wedding takes place in the future, we hope to at least be invited. You can send us the announcement directly at our office at 226 rue St-Joseph Est in Quebec City! We guarantee you will put the party in the place.

Does Lexya get a percentage on the sale of my used books?

Not a penny! What would be the point of saying that we want to leave you the most money in your pockets? So you can choose the price you want for your books and all the profit comes back to you.

I want to buy a used book, how does it work?

In the details page of the book you want to buy:

  1. Click on "BOOK"
  2. Finalize the steps in the shopping cart
    1. You will notice that your shopping cart is zero (0 $), because you will carry out the transaction directly with the seller during your meeting.
    2. So you have no credit card information to provide us.
  3. Your address and your personal information will not be shared with the seller at any time. When you have finalized the steps of the shopping cart, we will send you the seller's information so that you can contact him / her, and we will provide your contact information for him / her to do the same.
  4. You can then find a time and a place that suits you to proceed with the transaction.

Very important:

  • Since the payment is made outside the platform, we do not take a percentage on used book transactions.
  • Students must organize themselves to find a meeting point and proceed to payment by transfer or cash.
  • We suggest that students meet directly on campus or in a café to complete the transaction. Who knows, maybe you'll have a good time together?

I want to sell a used book, how does it work?

In the "Sell" section, you can find your book easily and you do not have to enter all the information in your book by hand. You determine the quality of your book according to four simple questions.

When you put a used book on sale, we suggest a price according to the quality of your book and our scholarly calculations. We also present you the value of the new book so that you have a better idea of your selling price. Then you have the freedom to choose the selling price you want!

I put my book up for sale, how do I know someone wants to buy it?

When a student wants to buy your book, we will send you his information by email and \ or text, according to the preferences that you have determined in your Profile.

You will then be able to determine a place and a time of meeting to proceed with the transaction.

I want to put a used book on sale, but I can not find it on the platform. What do I have to do ?

If you're reading this, you're probably a bit frustrated at not finding the book you wanted to sell, but, do not worry we're here for you! You simply have to follow the instructions below:

In the section "Sell" and "Sell a book",
  1. Press the "Write Us" button
  2. Fill in the Quick Questionnaire (Book Title, ISBN, Course, Comments)
  3. Make yourself an herbal tea
  4. During this time we will treat your request and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We promise you an answer within 48 hours.

What are the conditions of used books not accepted by Lexya?

Books that meet one or more of the following conditions are not accepted:

  • Torn up
  • Wet (water, coffee, tomato juice, etc.
  • Missing page (s)
  • Missing cover
  • Pages pasted together
  • Unpleasant odor

Certified Lexya - what is it exactly?

A Lexya - Certified book is a unique alternative that you are offered on the Lexya platform of your association. This is a used book that we have in stock at our warehouse and we offer to buy at a low price.

The benefits of a Lexya - Certified book are:

  • The book is still a 5 star, so it's like a new
  • The book will be delivered directly to you. So you do not have to move around and meet another student to buy your used book
  • You save money compared to the new price

It is therefore a perfect solution for those who do not want to pay the big price and who want to make the least effort possible! Not crazy anyway.

New books and E-Textbooks

I want to buy a new book, how does it work I want to buy a new book, how does it work?

For the purchase of new books, you can do the transaction directly on the Lexya platform, all from your couch and the book will be delivered directly to you!

We arrange to place the order and ensure that the delivery is made to the correct delivery address. We are the point of contact for students with different suppliers so that you get the best price and the best service on the market!

Why do you post redirect links to distributors like Renaud Bray, Coop Zone and Les Libraires?

When we do not have an agreement with suppliers, we offer you the different prices that we have been able to get on the web. You will be redirected to the distributors website where you can make your purchase.

Our goal is that you always pay the cheapest possible!

How can I track the status of a new book order?

You can check the status of your order directly from your Lexya account.

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. In the menu, click on "My Account" and "My Orders". You will then have access to all the commands you have made on Lexya and you will be able to see in detail each of them.
  3. Click on "View Order" and you will get the tracking information.

I placed an order a few days ago and there is still no information in the "View Order" section. Can you help me ?

It usually takes 2 to 3 business days before the order information is displayed in your profile, in the "My Orders" section. If you still have not heard from us, you can write to us at: orders@lexya.co and we will follow up as soon as possible.

When it's a downloadable PDF file, you can access your digital book without an internet connection.

I want to buy an E-Textbook, how does it work?

For the purchase of digital books, you proceed in the same way as for the new book. You do the transaction directly on the Lexya platform and we take care of placing the order with the different suppliers.

You will then receive a confirmation by e-mail with an access code to consult your book online *. When it comes to a PDF file, you can also download it directly from the My Orders tab on the Lexya platform.

Where do the new and digital books come from?

Our mission is to always offer you the most competitive prices on the market, that's why we negotiate our own agreements with external suppliers in order to get you the best possible prices.

We also treat information from certain sources in order to "scan" the web and always show you the best possible price.

Return and delivery policy

What is the return policy on the purchase of my books?

For all prices displayed with "LEXYA" as a supplier, sales are final. If ever there is an error, breakage, defect or other problem we will try to help you as best we can. Write to us as soon as possible at support@lexya.co.

Is it possible to have my books delivered directly to my home?

Of course!

The new books that you buy by LEXYA are all delivered directly to you. We work hard for one day to be able to deliver the used books directly to you too. We keep you informed about it. Let us know at support@lexya.co if it's something that interests you!

Why is the shipping price variable depending on the books I buy?

Since we work with different suppliers and their prices are different depending on the distance and the agreements they have with the distributor, we are not able to always have the same shipping price.

We work hard so that one day shipping is free on all your purchases!

My book has arrived home and it is damaged, what should I do?

If there is an error, break, defect or other problem and we have proof that the book has never been used, we will be able to help you without any problem. The request must be made as soon as possible after receiving the book. You have 72 hours after receiving the book to tell us about the breakage.

How do I return a book?

When you have made your request within 72 hours of receipt of the defective book, we will send you a shipping slip allowing you to return it to the right place. We will communicate the steps with you by email.

I ordered a new book on your platform, and finally I do not need it. Can I get a refund?

As mentioned above under the question "What is the return policy on the purchase of my books? Sales on the Lexya platform are final sales.

So you're responsible for the purchases you make on the LEXYA platform and you have to make sure it's the right book before you buy it. If you made that mistake, we suggest you put it on sale in used format, you can at least recover a good part of the amount you paid!
